General Summary: The Engineering Design Coordinator at TechServ will manage a team of skilled designers in creating and implementing joint-use make-ready engineering designs. You will be expected to create project plans, monitor progress, and ensure that the project stays on track and within budget. Responsibilities and Duties:
Core Responsibilities
- Team Coordination and Management: Lead a team of designers, assigning tasks, providing guidance and training, and ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines. Act as a point of reference for technical queries and provide constructive feedback to team members to enhance productivity and quality of work.
- Project Management: Oversee all joint-use make-ready engineering design projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to budget, and exceptional quality standards. Be responsible for tracking project progress, addressing and resolving issues, and updating stakeholders on project status.
- Problem-Solving: Anticipate potential challenges and obstacles in the design process and develop strategic solutions to mitigate them.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all designs comply with client specifications, industry standards, and regulations. Oversee the process of identifying pole requirements and limitations, assessing the impact of new attachments, and designing safe, reliable, and compliant solutions.
- Clearance-Based Design: Work with the team to analyze existing infrastructure and design new attachments that maintain adequate clearances from electrical conductors, transformers, and other components.
- Pole Loading Analysis: Supervise the process of analyzing the weight and forces placed on the joint-use pole by existing and new attachments using specialized software and tools. Ensure that the pole loading analysis results inform the design of new attachments to maintain necessary clearances while being safe and compliant with regulations and standards.
Day-to-day duties
- Coordinate the completion of the designs assigned to the team.
- Monitor project status and provide mentoring feedback to the designers.
- Track designers’/technicians’ progress, and productivity and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Ensure all project deadlines are adhered to.
- Develop and maintain project documentation and reports throughout the tracking process.
- Ability to analyze data and produce weekly progress reports.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must currently be eligible to work in the United States of America.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others, including project managers, stakeholders, and designers in a multi-disciplined team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel used for tracking, problem-solving, and data handling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Excellent time and project management capabilities to meet deadlines.
- Inquisitive by nature, driven entrepreneur.
- Pre-existing knowledge of joint-use pole design, attachment regulations and standards, clearance-based design, and pole loading analysis is a plus.
Education/Experience:

- Bachelor in a field of Engineering, Construction Management, business, or other STEM Fields.
- 1-2 years of project coordinator experience, preferably in the electric utility industry, preferred.
- High level of knowledge of joint use make-ready processes, is preferred.
