Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Electric Utility Field Technician to join our team of professionals. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. This position requires stamina and the ability to work with a partner. If you are interested in a challenging and rewarding electrical industry role, this is the job for you!

​​​Responsibilities
  1. Will ensure work is completed safely and to design specifications.
  2. Responsible for identifying and correctly recording all different attachments (telecom and utility) on electric distribution poles.
    1. Responsible for recording span lengths and angle bearings between two structures.
    2. Identify National Electric Safety Code (NESC) violations.
    3. Responsible for identifying appropriate electric conductor sizes.
    4. Responsible for identifying all appropriate equipment and attaching hardware on distribution poles.
    5. Responsible for utilizing an insulated, telescoping, fiberglass measuring stick to record the attachment height of any hardware/conductors installed on electric poles. (Contact to energized components will be made through the use of the insulated stick)
  3. Read and interpret maps and construction prints to ensure accuracy, and identify discrepancies between the field construction and the design specs.
  4. Responsible for working independently or with a partner in the field and maintaining streamlined communication with the office personnel.
  5. Responsible for emailing digital copies of the field data sheets and pictures to the design team in the office.
  6. Responsible for navigating, independently, to new locations provided by the design team.
  7. Follow safety protocols and procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • Must currently be eligible to work in the United States of America.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • High School Graduate or GED, documentation is required.
  • Computer literate: can efficiently utilize Microsoft Word, and Excel to update reports and an email client to communicate with the rest of the team.
  • Proficient in the use of a compass, range finders, and the recording of geographical features.
  • Willing to travel 100%+ of the time.
  • Willing to work long hours and potentially on a weekend.
  • Must be able to perform physical labor in elements for extended periods of time.
  • Must pass a drug screen test.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and a driving record check.
  • First Aid/CPR Trained a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to work outside in all elements.

Schedule

  • 8 days in the field / 6 days off
  • 10-12 hr workdays
