About the Role:
The Project Coordinator at TechServ is a supervisory (people-leader) role responsible for organizing and managing the various moving parts of a project to ensure its success. This includes assigning and monitoring daily tasks, as well as creating reports and updates for the project manager and other members of management.
Note: Design project types will vary by department, and may include: joint-use and make-ready functions, distribution engineering, telecommunications network upgrades, and more.
Essential Job Functions & Key Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, the Project Coordinator is responsible for the following essential job functions. Additional duties may be assigned by the Project Manager or other department leader(s).
- Team Coordination and Management: Lead a team of Designers (typically between 5-15 individuals). Assign tasks, provide guidance and training, and ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines. Serve as a point of reference for technical queries, and provide constructive feedback to enhance productivity and quality of work.
- Project & Process Management: Monitor and enforce adherence to processes set by Project Management, and client specifications. Manage change notices appropriately, training the team to make the necessary switches to meet production goals. Provide ideas for enhancement to optimize existing processes.
- Problem-Solving: Be proactive. Anticipate potential obstacles in the design process, and develop strategic solutions to mitigate them. Communicate promptly with team and other stakeholders as challenges arise.
- Quality Assurance: Supervise the design process to ensure that all designs comply with client specifications, industry standards (e.g., NESC), and regulations.
- CAD Design Analysis: Using proprietary CAD software, assist the team in analyzing existing infrastructure to design solutions which adhere to client specifications and maintain adequate clearances from electrical conductors, transformers, and other components.
Weekly Tasks & Duties
- Coordinate the completion of jobs assigned to the team to meet the project’s production and quality goals; ensure all deadlines are met.
- Monitor project status, and provide mentoring feedback to the designers.
- Track team’s progress and productivity, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Develop and maintain project documentation and reports throughout the tracking process.
- Analyze data and produce weekly progress reports.
- Submit and ensure accuracy of timecards for direct reports.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must currently be eligible to work in the United States of America
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to manage teams of 5 – 15 people
- Ability to work collaboratively with others, including project managers, stakeholders, and designers in a multi-disciplined team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel used for tracking, problem-solving, and data handling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
- Excellent time and project management capabilities to meet deadlines
- Inquisitive by nature, with a driven entrepreneurial mindset
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor in a field of Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or any STEM Fields – preferred.
- 1-2 years of project coordinator / supervisor experience, preferably in the electric utility or telecommunications industry – preferred.
