Description
TechServ is seeking a highly skilled Distribution Protection and Control Technician to join our dynamic team in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Job Summary:
Key responsibilities include:
- Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing engineering/technician work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.
- Supporting a strong safety culture and ensuring the execution of utility owner’s safety standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Modeling of electrical utility distribution systems as part of load flow studies & short-circuit fault studies.
- Protection device coordination studies and development of protective device setting schemes for electrical utility distribution networks.
- The design and implementation of Distribution Automation schemes throughout the client’s service territory. This includes system modeling, coordination studies, and follow-through of coordinating the installation of equipment and services.
- Investigation of customer power quality issues & development of customized solutions to rectify the issues.
- Development of construction drawings, construction specifications, and cost estimates for capital projects.
- Programming of field equipment for system optimization.
- Troubleshooting of automated field equipment and working with manufacturers to resolve failed units.
- Field checkout and start-up of new facilities.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Engineering degree preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5 to 15 years of experience of distribution line work.
- Familiarity with Distribution Automation equipment required, such as reclosers, capacitor banks, air switches.
- Familiarity with OSHA Standard 1926, including Subpart V (Power Transmission and Distribution).
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Org Plus, Outlook, SharePoint, and internet applications.
- Proficiency in Distribution standards, safe operation of line equipment, and familiarity with the operations of Distribution construction.
- Experience working in group settings and with governmental agencies.
- Ability to interface effectively with internal and external clients at all levels.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Willingness to travel extensively and maintain a continuous presence on assignments.
- Physical ability to perform outdoor work and wear all required PPE.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and pass a background check, MVR check, and drug screening.

Travel and On-site Visits:
- Travel will be dependent on the location of the clients equipment and at their request throughout their service territory. This position may require overnight stays.
